FIAMMISAYS: YES AND NO of FEBRUARY 2013 (THE CARNIVAL TIME)

Eccoci… questo è l’OTTAVO appuntamento con la mia rubrica “FIAMMISAYS” partita a Luglio 2012. Per una introduzione e breve descrizione di questa mia nuova “avventura”, guarda QUI (ci puoi trovare tutti gli altri appuntamenti)

MOTHER
(for those who, like me, does not like the carnival and try to go around, at this time, without dressing up – per chi, come me, non ama il carnevale e tenta di andare in giro, in questo periodo, senza mascherarsi )

YES TO:

• THE KIMONO, it is always in fashion, is it something always so refined and elegant and, with the right hairstyle, you may also give the impression that you wanted to dress up. What a luck….;-)
• IL KIMONO, è sempre di gran moda, è un capo sempre raffinatissimo ed elegante e, con la giusta pettinatura, potresti anche far credere che hai avuto voglia di mascherarti. Pensa un pò che fortuna…;-)

• A TOUCH METAL, yes, it is time to pull out of the closet that “metal jacket” or that metal skirt that you promised me to hide very well. Now you can pull it out and wear it with confidence (as well), no one can deny the originality and the reference to Ufo Robot. A tip (seriously this time), the metal dècolletèe shoe (silver) will be really very fashionable and you can wear it even better than the black. It is possible that Carnival, sometimes, inspires..
• UN TOCCO METAL, ebbene sì, è ora di tirare fuori dall’armadio quel ghiacchino o quella gonna metallica che mi avevi promesso di aver nascosto bene bene. Adesso puoi tirarlo fuori ed indossarlo con disinvoltura (pure), nessuno potrà negare l’originalità ed il rimando a Ufo Robot. Un consiglio (serio stavolta), il dècolletèe metal (argento) sarà davvero di gran moda e lo potrai indossare anche meglio del nero. Vedi te che il Carnevale, a volte, inspira..

• THE 60′ YEARS DRESS, I have seen many of them around (even on sale) and for those who love them, they can be a viable alternative to the classic little black dress to go out with friends and to seem, with a nice boot, maybe white (do not stop reading, it’s Carnival), at least a little in keeping with the period….
• IL VESTITINO ANNI 60′, ne ho visti tantissimi in giro (anche a saldo) e, per chi li ama, possono essere una valida alternativa al classico tubino nero per uscire con le amiche e per sembrare, con un bello stivale, magari bianco (non smettere di leggere, è Carnevale), anche almeno un pò in tema con il periodo…

NO TO:

• THE LEOPARD TOTAL LOOK, it is not yet time of animal prints total look, no, not even for Carnival! If you just can not resist, dress your daughter as a feline, then you will have to struggle with her adolescent difficulties. Animal prints are wonderful, I like them too much, but ONE PIECE AT A TIME! Ok??
• IL TOTAL LOOK LEOPARDO, non è ancora il momento dell’animalier total look, no, nemmeno per Carnevale!!! Se proprio non puoi resistere, vesti tua figlia da felino, poi te la vedrai te con le sue difficoltà adolescenziali. Le stampe animalier sono meravigliose, piacciono un sacco anche a me, ma UN PEZZO ALLA VOLTA!!! Ok???

• THE GIRL OF THE WEST, if you have bought  a piece of Isabel Marant (lucky you) or something similar (you can find an imitation everywhere), just wear that, do not match it with other fringes, embroidery or shoes derived from cowboy boots. The effect cowgirl will be undoubted, but if your intention was not to dress up….
• LA SIGNORINA DEL WEST, se hai acquistato un capo di Isabel Marant (beata te) o qualcosa di simile (da qualsiasi parte ne trovi una copia), metti solo quello, non abbianarlo ad altre frange, ricami o stivali derivati dai camperos. L’effetto cowgirl sarà indubbio, ma se la tua intenzione non era quella di mascherarti…

• THE TOO MUCH “BON TON“, although usually your style is “good girl”, now it is the time to dare a little! Leave your imagination free and let yourself be carried ​by instinct, play with prints, colors and shapes, and believe me, you will be, now more than ever, so fashionable. If, then, you do not feel comfortable without your knee-length skirt and the sweater with waist belt, you can always say you’re going to a Carnival party….;-)
• IL TROPPO “BON TON”, anche se, solitamente, il tuo stile è da “brava ragazza”, adesso è il momento di osare un pò! Lascia libera la tua fantasia, fatti portare dall’istinto, gioca con stampe, colori e forme diverse e, credimi, sarai, adesso più che mai, alla moda. Se, poi, non ti senti a tuo agio senza la tua gonna al ginocchio ed il tuo golfino con cinturina in vita, puoi sempre dire che stai andando ad una festa di Carnevale…;-)

DAUGHTER
(for those who, as Fiammetta, has a mother who does not like the Carnival and tries, however, to do something-  per chi, come Fiammetta, ha una mamma che non ama il Carnevale e che prova, comunque, a fare qualcosa)

YES TO:

• THE “HOME MADE”, maybe also with the collaboration/participation of your children. It ‘also a way to spend time with your “girl.” The result will, anyhow, a source of pride and entertainment. The originality, then, is essential in this time of the year. You’ll need only imagination and good will.
• IL FATTO IN CASA, magari proprio con la collaborazione/partecipazione dei tuoi bambini. E’ anche un modo per passare del tempo con la tua “ragazza”. Il risultato sarà, in ogni caso, motivo di vanto e di divertimento. L’originalità, poi, è indispensabile in questo periodo dell’anno. Ti serviranno solo fantasia e buona volontà.

• THE EASY CLOTHES, do not go overdo with the carnival dresses … they are always children and they are “delicate.” I do not tell you this because I do not like the Carnival, but only for the fact that I do not think that they could be happy having a lot of clothes on. If your daughter is little, a tulle skirt, a little crown and a wand will be perfect. She will seem to be a princess and you’ll also saved your money…. ;
• I VESTITI SEMPLICI, non esagerare con le maschere…sono sempre bambini e sono “delicati”. Non te lo dico, perchè a me non piace il Carnevale e tantomeno le maschere, ma solo per il fatto che non credo che loro siano felici di avere addosso montagne di stoffa. Se la tua bambina è piccola, una gonna di tulle, una coroncina ed una bacchetta magica saranno perfetti. A lei sembrerà di essere una principessa e tu avrai anche risparmiato….;-)

• THE RESPECT FOR HER WILLINGNESS, let her to choose,  do not decide you even this time. If she does not want to dress up (give her my number, sure to become friends), do not force her, if she wants to dress up as a carrot, tell her that the orange suits her a lots. The Carnival is her festival, listen her, help her, please her.
• IL RISPETTO DELLA SUA VOLONTA’, fai scegliere a lei, non decidere tu anche adesso. Se non vuole mascherarsi (dalle il mio numero, diventeremo sicuramente amiche), non la forzare, se vuole vestirsi da carota, dille che l’arancio le dona tantissimo. Il Carnevale è la sua festa, ascoltala, aiutala, accontentala.

NO TO:

• THE FUR COSTUMES, if your child is under two years. Do not you think that all those furs or similar you can find around are a little too much for your child?? Do not you think that they might risk to become covered with bubbles and that, perhaps, may also feel slightly heavy?? Chooses, as long as she is a baby, for simple and also ligh costumes.
• I COSTUMI DI PELLICCIA, se la tua bambina ha meno di due anni. Non credi che tutte quelle simil pellicce che si trovano in giro siano un pò troppo per la tua bambina??? Non credi possa rischiare di ricoprirsi di bolle e che, magari, possa anche sentirsi leggermente appesantita??? Opta, finchè lei è piccola, per costumi semplici e anche leggeri.

• THE COSTUMES IN PLASTIC, they also cost a lot of money and they are just too much. If you want to dress up your daughter like a princess, do not wrap her in paper candy, use your imagination or look for her something suitable. In some stores I have seen some very beautiful and very simple costumes. She will be the same beautiful and less clunky.
• I VESTITI DI PLASTICA,  costano anche un sacco di soldi e sono davvero troppo. Se la vuoi vestire da principessa, non importa avvolgerla nella carta da caramelle, usa la tua fantasia o cercale qualcosa di adatto. In alcuni negozi ho visto vestiti molto belli e molto semplici. Lei sarà bellissima lo stesso e anche meno goffa.

• THE SLIPPERS, even if the costume requires it! Please … I’ve seen girls with slippers or shoes for dance hang out with minus seven degrees! I understand that the costume must be complete, but a little respect! Make them wear a boot or a comfortable sneakesr (which is suitable for any costume), then, if the party takes place in an enclosed area, remove the the shoes and let them wear whatever you want, but ONLY in this case. Ok??
• LE BABBUCCE, anche se il costume lo richiede!!! Ti prego…ho visto bambine con pantofoline o scarpette da danza andare in giro con meno sette gradi!!! Lo capisco che il travestimento deve essere completo, ma un pò di riguardo!! Falle indossare uno stivaletto comodo o una sneakesr (che si adatta ad ogni costume), poi, se la festa si svolge in un luogo chiuso, toglile pure le scarpe e falle indossare quello che vuoi, ma SOLO in questo caso. Ok??

SON
(for those who, like her sister, has a mother who does not like the Carnival and tries, also for him, to do something-  per chi, come la sorella,  ha una mamma che non ama il Carnevale e che prova, anche per lui, a fare qualcosa)

YES TO: 

• THE SWORD AND THE HAT, I know I could seem trivial, but your child will surely enjoy. In addition you can find them anywhere, they are cheap and they can match any look comfortable and practical. Take, then, your black anb big scarf, sew an elastic at both ends and he will have a beautiful and warm cape especially to show off in the open areas.
• LA SPADA ED IL CAPPELLO,  lo so che può sembrarti banale, ma il tuo bambino sarà sicuramente contento. In più li puoi trovare ovunque, costano poco e li puoi abbinare qualsiasi look comodo e pratico. Prendi, poi, una tua sciarpa grande e nera, cuci un elastico a due estremità e lui avrà un mantello bellissimo e soprattutto caldo da sfoggiare anche all’aperto.

• THE EARS, THE TAIL AND THE PAPILLON, especially if your child is little, they will be enough to make a perfect little animal. I’ve seen all kinds around and for all the tastes. The right makeup (light, however, and with good products) will make everything perfect and not too heavy. Ask him, if he speaks, which animal he prefers and choose, if he does not speak, for the animal of which he is able to do the sound. He will be very happy…
• LE ORECCHIE, LA CODA ED IL PAPILLON,  specialmente se il tuo bambino è piccolo, basteranno a renderlo un animaletto perfetto. Ne ho visti di ogni genere in giro e per tutti i gusti. Un trucco in tema (leggero però e con buoni prodotti) renderanno il tutto perfetto e non troppo pesante. Chiedi a lui, se parla, che animale prefersice e opta, se lui non parla, per quello di cui riesce a fare il verso. Sarà felicissimo…

• THE LOAN FROM DADDY’S CLOSET, find something from there and you’ll see that with a littel you will be able to make your child happy. You could take a big black sweater, tie it at the waist with a daddy’s belt with a beautiful buckle (who does not have it in memory of the fabulous 80 ‘?!), Put a tie around his head, a scarf (preferably with skulls) on the wrist and a black sock (clean please) to cover one eye like a bandage. Your pirate will be very happy, the dad a little less…;-)
• IL PRESTITO DALL’ARMADIO BEL BABBO, pesca qualcosa da lì e vedrai che con poco riuscirai a rendere felice il tuo bambino. Potresti prendere un grande maglione nero, legarlo all’altezza della vita con una cintura sempre del babbo con una bella fibbia (chi non ce l’ha in ricordo dei favolosi anni 80′??!!), legare una cravatta intorno alla testa, un foulard (meglio con i teschi) al polso ed un calzino nero (pulito ti prego) a coprire un occhio come fosse una benda. Il vostro pirata sarà felicissimo, il babbo un pò meno….;-)

NO TO:

• THE COSTUMES FOR FEMALE, this is not the time to show your feminine side. You have a child (how nice!) and you have to dress up him as a MALE. Prohibited the bows, the shades of pink, the cat costumes and the butterfly wings. I saw you, you know, to carry around your little boy with wings of ladybug and the red circle. The excuse “he is so little” does not hold. If you really can not resist, keep him in the house!!!
• I COSTUMI DA FEMMINA, questo non è il momento di mostrare il tuo lato femminile. Hai un bambino (che bello!!) e devi mascherarlo da  MASCHIO. Vietati fiocchetti, toni del rosa, vestiti da gatta ed ali di farfalla. Ti ho vista, sai, portare in giro il tuo maschietto con le ali di coccinella ed il cerchietto rosso. La scusa “tanto è piccolo” non regge. Se proprio non resisti, tienilo in casa!!!

• THE OSTENTATION, do not busy yourself to put in the carnival costume of your child all your desire for exhibitionism. It does not mind spending six million euro for the best costume, it does not mind to go to Armani to buy a tuxedo for dressing up him as a penguin, it minds to create or to buy a costume that is pleasing to him, make him feel at ease and with whom he will be like all the other children. If at the Carnival party he will seem the worst dressed, but he will always have a smile, you’ll understand what is worth more than anything else.
• L’OSTENTAZIONE, non affannarti a riporre nella maschera di Carnevale del tuo bambino tutta la tua voglia di esibizionismo. Non importa spendere sei milioni di euro per avere la maschera più bella, non importa andare da Armani per acquistare un frac per vestirlo da pinguino, importa creare o comprare un costume che piaccia a lui, che lo faccia sentire a proprio agio e con il quale possa essere come tutti gli altri bambini. Se alla festa di Carnevale ti sembrerà il peggio vestito, ma avrà sempre il sorriso, capirai che è quello che vale più di ogni altra cosa.

• THE COSTUMES FOR ADULTS, they are children, come on! There are about a billion costumes that fit them, why do you want to dress up them thoughtlessly? Believe me, I’ve seen children dressed as BRAD PITT! Yeah, no kidding!! As I recognized them? They had the beard, the goatee, a blonde wig a littlelong and a bottle of Chanel No.5 in hand!!! Do not believe me? Shame on me and when I did not take a picture ….
• I COSTUMI DA ADULTI, sono bambini, dai!!!! Ci sono circa un miliardo di costumi che si adattano a loro, perchè vuoi vestirli in modo del tutto sconsiderato?? Credimi, ho visto bambini vestiti da BRAD PITT!!! Sì, non scherzo!!!!! Come li ho riconosciuti?? Avevano barba, pizzetto, parrucca bionda un pò lunghina ed una bottiglia di Chanel n.5 in mano!!!!!!!!! Non ci credi?? Mannaggia a me ed a quando non ho fatto una foto….;-)

One last tip for ALL: THE CARNIVAL (whether we like it or not) must be a time to share, as far as we can, with our children. Them, with a super and fabulous carnival dress or only with confetti in hand, they NEED and WANT to show US their joy and their need for fun. LET’S LISTEN TO THEM and LET’S LEAVE SPACE to THEIR FANTASY. That’s all!!!

Un ultimo consiglio per TUTTI: IL CARNAVALE (che piaccia, oppure no) deve essere un periodo da condividere, per quanto più possiamo, con i nostri bambini. Loro, mascherati di tutto punto o solo con dei coriandoli in mano, hanno BISOGNO e VOGLIA di mostrare a NOI la loro gioia e la loro necessità di divertimento. ASCOLTIAMOLI e LASCIAMO SPAZIO alla LORO FANTASIA. Tutto qui!!
